WORK SCHEDULE FOR COVENANT EPISTEMOLOGY

Dear Sir,

Due to unwarranted circumstances, and the time of receiving the materials which was already against me, I plead to work independently as much as possible to finish my assignment without the stipulated schedule.
Bear with me, please as I submit my work together. God bless you for your understanding.

Yours in His Service,
Unyime J. Obonukut.

ASSIGNMENT: REFLECTION
TOPIC: COVENANT DEFINED
FACILITATOR: REV. DR. OKAFOR
STUDENT: REV. UNYIME J. OBONUKUT
COURSE: COVENANT EPISTEMOLOGY
PROGRAM OF STUDY: DOCTORATE
CHAPTER OF REFLECTION: CHAPTER 1

COVENANT DEFINED
The beginning of this chapter tires to give the meaning of covenant as could understood by all. The Jews and Lawyer could understand better, so it behooves us to educate especially the gentiles on the true implication and meaning of a covenant. YHVH has made great plans for humanity in particular, those whom YHVH loves and those who love YHVH (God) and are called according to his purpose (will) (2 Timothy 1:8-10). his will is that all people everywhere enjoin and comply with the Messianic covenant. And by enjoining said covenant participants are promised to receive the Holy Spirit by which YHVH’s LOVE is shed abroad in their hearts. Conversely, if one does not enjoin said covenant there is no hope of salvation, not even for those who call themselves Christians (Matthew 7:21-24).
The chapter further gives a preliminary definition of covenant as a legal term that is often found in contracts, agreements, and property deeds. A covenant is defined as:
1. A binding agreement; a compact.
2. Law: (a) A formal sealed agreement or contract
(b) A suit to recover damages for violation of such contract.
3. In the Bible, YHVH’s promises to the human race. it also treat, why and purpose of covenant, Psalms 8:4-9; Hebrews 2:9-18; 1:13; Romans 15:12; 2Timothy 2:12; Revelation 5:9-10; 1 Corinthians 2:9 etc. A part of the plan also was Christ’s death 1 Peter 1:18-20.
Expanded definition of the word covenant reveals a binding legal document comprised of two polarized documents, a contract and a will. In order to seal and activate a covenant, a death had to occur. A dead body had to be cut into pieces, the pieces laid out and then the two agreeing parties had to pass between the pieces of flesh. Genesis 15:17-18.
Another common Biblical word used interchangeably with the Mosaic covenant and Messianic covenant is “Testament”. Hebrews 9:16-20; 10:17-18; 10:29; 12:24; 13:20. The chapter later deals on the historical background and the derivation of the word, covenant and the basic components of biblical covenants, with biblical methods of activating a covenant, Hebrews 9:16-22, (Exodus 19).

RESPONSE TO CHAPTER
We give God the glory for our Lord and master Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament proxy death was the only way individuals could enjoin a covenant so that they could live to participate in the covenant as well as being able to ensure that all regulatory and promise components of the covenant were complied with. But the New covenant was not activated (consummated) by proxy death, but the testator himself died literally, activating the covenant immediately.
It is therefore very important to rejoice for the fact that Jesus had died and gave Himself as a ransom for all to benefit by his solemn sacrifice.

CHAPTER OF REFLECTION: CHAPTER 2

DIVINE COVENANTS
After establishing the definition and purpose of covenant, the author, in this chapter wishes to examine the major covenant found in the scriptures. There are numerous covenants found in the bible but this book will focus on those between YHVH (God) and humanity discussed chronologically from biblical point of view.
The first covenant of promise was between YHVH’ Noah and humanity in Genesis account of Noah and the ark. Genesis 6:17-18; 8:20 – 19:17. there are seven thins that need be highlighted and underscored: (1) Noah offered a voluminous burnt animal offering unto the LORD. (2) Covenant promises and regulations were clarifies between the two parties, (3) YHVH blessed Noah and his sons and their posterity, (4) The covenant was between YHVH, Noah, his sons and every living creature, (5) The covenant was to be everlasting, (6) YHVH gave a token as a reminder of his full promise, and (7) YHVH prophetically spoke of a future “seed” (singular). The descendants of Noah did not comply with the covenant regulations at any great length, Genesis 11:1-4, Genesis 11:5-9.

ABRAHAMIC COVENANT
A second significant covenant was between YHVH and Abraham and will include two major sections, (1) promise and circumcision. Genesis 12:1-4, 8; 13:2, 4, 14-18; 15:1-2, 4-6, 8-21; 17:1; Acts 7:8. God on numerous occasions reiterated his covenant he had with Abraham with subsequent generations On Isaac, Leviticus 26:42; Jacob, Exodus 2:24, Israel (Jacob), Leviticus 24:8.

MOSAIC COVENANT (LAW-OLD/FIRST TESTAMENT)
A third significant covenant was between YHVH, Moses, Israel and proselytes. Exodus 19 – Deuteronomy 34. Also entered here is the reason God made this covenant with humanity, Romans 3:19; 5:20; Galatians 3:19; 3:24.

LEVITIC COVENANT
a fourth significant covenant was between YHVH and the Levites-the Israeli tribe of priests, Numbers 3:6-9; 3:11-12; 18:6; 18:20-22; Deuteronomy 33:8-10;Jeremiah 33:21-22; Malachi 2:1-6.

DAVIDIC COVENANT
A fifth significant covenant was between YHVH and David. This covenant was intended to be eternal, 2 Chronicles 6:16; 7:18; 1Kings 9:3-7; Psalms 89:34-37; Jeremiah 33:21-22; Luke 1:32-33. All some points in history, it seems that YHVH broke this promise.

MESSIANIC
A sixth significant was prophesied in advance and was between YHVH, Israel, and the house of Judah. This covenant was not between YHVH and the Gentiles, although the work of Christ made significant provisions for the Gentiles to be included, Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 8:6-13; Ephesians 2:12-13 and 2 Peter 1:3-4.

RESPONSE TO CHAPTER 2
The significant covenants heretofore discussed reveal the overwhelming LOVE of God toward humanity. If you imagine the magnitude, glory, power, majesty, dignity, height and depth etc. of God, it will baffle you in respect of his condescending to the men of low estate and going into covenant with his creature.
It will elude the mind of man those marvelous ideas which God compiled from the beginning to deliver man from his self destroyed inheritance. God came down and reasoned with man, man’s salvation. Glory be His holy name. It is worth to accept this great offer.

CHAPTER OF REFLECTION: CHAPTER 3

THE MESSIANIC COVENANT (THE CONIAH (JECHONIAH) IMPASSE AND PARADIGM SHIFTING)
Many theologians, ministers and church leaders as recorded here mistakenly think that YHVH kept his promise to David via David’s son, Solomon. According to the author, this would contradict YHVH’s curse upon Coniah (Jechonias). God cursed the lineage of Solomon fourteen generations later through his distant relative Coniah (Jeremiah 22:24-30). This appears to be a breach of YHVH’s (God’s) promise to David, but it is not as will be shown below, 1Kings 2:45; 8:25; Jeremiah 22:24.
“And King Zedekiah the son of Josiah reign instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim”, Jeremiah 37:1.
Solomon did not walk uprightly, so YHVH’s promise (1Kings 9:3-7) to Solomon became void. Coniah’s lineage was cut off, according to the word of the LORD by the mouth of the prophet Jeremiah.
Matthew recorded the genealogy of Joseph from Abraham to David Coniah and onward. Matthew 1:10-16. But Luke clearly uses a different genealogical path than Matthew. He uses Mary’s lineage and also exposes several interesting genealogical aspects early in his writings that should be considered. Luke 1:5; 1:26-27; 1:36-37; 1:67-70; 2:4; 3:23-34.
Since Solomon failed, and the eventual curse upon Coniah by YHVH, YHVH (God) had other plans for David’s eternal throne other than through Solomon. The author considers Yeshua (Jesus) and adopted child to Joseph and Mary since he was not from their biological blood. There we the gentiles are adopted by same Jesus into the blessings of Israel and the kingdom of God, Galatians 4:5-7; Ephesians 1:5; Galatians 3:14-18.
John became a paradigm shifter by leaving his family’s profession, ran around the wilderness clothed in camel’s hair with a sustaining diet of locus and wild honey. The shift came when John publicly introduced Yeshua Christ and the “lamb of YHVH, which taketh away the sins of the world”.
After baptism Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights in the wilderness, chose his disciples and continued his ministry work. He became the stone which the builders rejected which became the head of the corner, Acts 4:11; Ephesians 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6-8.

RESPONSE TO CHAPTER 3
The paradigm shift narration, the adoption and divine covenant have made every thing possible for the gentile’s inclusion in the scheme of heavenly candidacy. I praise God for such glorious wisdom towards his creation.
This in essence has become a negation to the bona fide acclamation of the rights of ownership of God’s divine salvation to the human race by the Jews. Thank God for divine providence.
Now, any one that calls on the name of the Lord everywhere in the world will be saved. Let everybody make good use of this chance. Amen

CHAPTER OF REFLECTION: CHAPTER 4

THE MESSIANIC COVENANT (THE WORK OF CHRIST)
This chapter according to the author will focus on the Messianic covenant and the work of Christ and how it impacts the promises, the covenant requirements and on modern times. Covenants are only as valid and long lasting as is described therein. Covenants can be eternal-lasting from generation to generation without ending parameters. This affects covenants between YHVH and humanity.
The chapter confirms that participants in covenants can draw up new covenants that supersede earlier covenants so long as both parties are in agreement (meeting of the minds) thereto.
The author then discusses transitioning from the old to the New, Hebrews 8:13. The Mosaic covenant was to expose sin, transgression and humanity’s weakness in the flesh-the depravity of humanity (Romans 3:9-10). The purposes of the law were:
(1) To bring the world to Christ, Galatians 3:24-25.
(2) To prove that all (both Jews and Gentiles) are all under sin, Romans 3:9.
(3) That by the words of the law shall no flesh be justified, Galatians 2:16.
(4) Those offences might abound, Romans 5:20.
Nonetheless, the new covenant would establish/fulfill the old covenant, Matthew 5:17-20; Romans 3:30-31. Faith is needed, Romans 9:30-33; 2 Corinthians 3:12-13; Acts 15:2-17; Acts 26; 28; Galatians 2:11-16.
The Israelites pride of genealogy did not allow them easy access to the faith door policy of the new covenant, Acts 15L12-17; 21:25; Romans 15:12; 15:16 etc. The chapter then discusses severally the redemption which Christ came to redeem Israel, Romans 11:25; Ephesians 4:17-18 etc.
This also affected both Israel and the entire world, 1 John 2:2; Romans 3:24; 1 Corinthians 1:20; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:12-15 etc. The work of Christ abolished the old covenant and brought a new covenant that is accessed by promise and faith and centers around LOVE, peace and hope rather than on regulations, Romans 8:2-3; Ephesians 2:13-16; Matthew 26-28 etc.
The chapter then tries to give the account of some of the works of Christ to include:
(1) Christ became sin
(2) Christ shed his blood
(3) Christ suffered without the camp. etc.

RESPONSE TO CHAPTER 4
It behooves humanity to think and rethink on the great wisdom and work of redemption in order to be able to appreciate YHVH and his son Jesus Christ.
The work of spending money and resources couldn’t afford true redemption, what then of simple faith in the finished work on the cross of Calvary. God decided to pay it all through the willingness of his son to die for the whole of humanity.
This concludes the reason why God will be very wrath with any person who fails to accept so great a salvation (simply accepting). God help humanity in Jesus name.
Accept the Lord Jesus as your Lord and saviour, confess sins and denounce them. This will bring redemption-simple faith.

CHAPTER OF REFLECTION: CHAPTER 5

THE MESSIANIC COVENANT (ADOPTED CHILD, DIFFERENT FOLD OR FIFTH WIFE)
The author in this chapter comments that the topic here is a carefully avoid one by too many religious leaders. Christ was an adopted child and did not have blood tie (genetic or chromosomal) to Abraham or King David.
This sets precedence for Christ’s ministry which was part of YHVH’s divine plan for all would-be kingdom participants. Within the Messianic covenant all present and future Gentile participants (including all of Abraham’s seeds that were not through Isaac) could only be enjoined to it by the enjoinment process and by adoption (promise and faith).
Adoption can be said to all about election, grace, faith and acceptance-key elements in becoming a child of Abraham and a child of YHVH, Galatians 3:6; Hebrews 2:14-18; Romans 9:4; Galatians 3:15-18; 4:4-7; Ephesians 1:5-6; Acts 3:22-26; Romans 2:28-29; 4:9-13.
Concerning “different fold”, it appears that Christ alluded to the Gentiles and/or the Samaritans as, “other sheep I have, which are not of this fold”. But the future intention was to merge both folds into one fold with only one shepherd; John 10:9-16.
On “Fifth Wife”, the author stresses polygamy as scriptural as Abraham had two wives and two concubines. He continues to talk of David, Solomon and King Abijah of marrying many wives, Genesis 25:1-6; 2Chronicles 13:21-21. Of Ruth, Ruth 4:10-12, ten virgins Matthew 25:1-13; Mark 2:19-20; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:9-10; 5:5-32; 1 Peter 3:6-7; Revelation 21:2, 9; 19:7-9.
He opines that polygamous marriage analogies were used as a spiritual likeness of the collective church comprised of many members (Corporate wife) of YHVH in Christ, Ephesians 3:6. He identifies the five corporate wives as (1) Israel, (2) Judah (3) Samaria (4) Jerusalem and (5) Gentiles.
He also identifies various analogical, typological and parabolic metaphors referencing believers in scriptures, but here are a few examples:
Sons - - Heirs
Adopted sons - G-heirs
Daughters - - Saints
Wife - - Church
Bride - - Servants
Sheep - - Brothers
Lambs

RESPONSE TO CHAPTER 5
The issue of Adoption is perfectly applauded and I praise God for such provision. But the continues stressing of polygamy of being biblical till this new dispensation is baffling.
More so, the referencing of Abraham as regards two wives is unfounded, since Abraham did not marry Keturah when Sarah was alive. Genesis 24 account of Abraham’s life reveals that Sarah had died before Genesis 25:1 which tells us, as the author referred, “Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah”.
As from the beginning, it was one man and one wife, as God created. Christ also referred to this in the New Testament, Mark 10:5-9.

ASSIGNMENT: REFLECTION
TOPIC: ABRAHAMIC, MOSAIC, DAVID AND MESSIANIC (A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS)
FACILITATOR: REV. DR. OKAFOR
STUDENT: REV. UNYIME J. OBONUKUT
COURSE: COVENANT EPISTEMOLOGY
PROGRAM OF STUDY: DOCTORATE
CHAPTER OF REFLECTION: CHAPTER 6

ABRAHAMIC, MOSAIC, DAVID AND MESSIANIC
(A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS)
This chapter according to the author will conduct a limited comparative analysis of four covenants from a generalist’s point of view. As shown before, the main premise of the Abrahamic, Davidic, and Messianic covenant was about PROMISE, ELECTION, GRACE AND FAITH.
The Mosaic covenant being overlooked focused on ORDINANCES (works) (Romans 9:31; 10:1-3) by those enjoined. Yeshua (Jesus) made it clear that the weightier matters of the law were certainly more than ordinances and had even been omitted or overlooked, Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42; Galatians 3:15-17; Romans 3:21-22, 28.
The author uses a comparative analysis chart to assist readers understand the three major covenants. Issues in the chart include: status, how to enjoin, qualified candidates, regulations and breath consequences. From the status point it is revealed that Abrahamic covenant is still valid (everlasting covenant), Mosaic covenant is now invalid (temporary covenant) and Messianic covenant is still valid (everlasting covenant) etc. He continues to deliberate on adoption, Romans 9:6-16.
He then talked of the law fulfilled as the ending of the law-in Christ, Matthew 5:17-20; Luke 24:44-45; 16:17; Romans 10:4. Christ had also fulfilled the written prophecy and the Psalm and the child of promise requirement, 1 John 4:19, John 5:16; 5:19; Romans 8:30; Galatians 1:6; 1 Thessalonians 2:12; Romans 4:18-24.
On “Passing between the pieces”, as shown before YHVH (the lamp) passed between the pieces of flesh when Abraham laid out the pieces of the sacrifice. YHVH also passed between the flesh of Christ after Christ was nailed to the tree when he gave up the Ghost-YHVH in Christ, Isaiah 53:4-5; Mark 15:38; 1 Corinthians 11:24.
The chapter also deliberate on blood covenant Ephesians 2:13; Colossians 1:20; Hebrews 9:14; 1 John 5:6-8. Also on covenant seals 2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30; 2 Timothy 2:19. He stresses then on genealogical necessity, Romans 9:6-16; 10:12; Galatians 3:2-29; 3:12-18. He then draws a chart that shows a concurrent run of the covenants.

RESPONSE TO CHAPTER 6
Covenant analysis reveals the foreknowledge and the goodwill plan of the Almighty toward mankind. But the interpretation of Luke 11:42 does not imply complete extinction of the payment of tithe. Jesus was trying to correct the bad notion they had about tithing.
Tithing follows God’s promises and they knew it and appropriated such to the detriment of the weightier matters or passing over judgment and the love of God. The last words of verse 42 say, “…… and not to leave the other undone”.
This statement denotes a requirement of the combination of forces to achieve a unified goal. (1) Do justice (2) Love God and (3) pay your tithes also. It means, don’t leave one and do the other, do all. May God help us in Jesus’ name. Amen.

TOPIC: ENJOINING THE MESSIANIC COVENANT

CHAPTER OF REFLECTION: CHAPTER 7

ENJOINING THE MESSIANIC COVENANT
Enjoining the Messianic Covenant implies adoption of all who have faith in Christ and in his completed work being Abraham’s seed and continuing in the same work until the end. Therefore enjoining the Messianic covenant as well as continuing in the doctrine of Christ thereafter, proves the veracity of a believers faith.
The author then writes on how to enjoin the messianic covenant (be saved). From, an adoptee who became a preacher is sent to preach the gospel to, calling adoptee candidates are saved/adopted/sealed. This is because “for whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved ……”. Romans 10:12-17.
He then stresses what the preacher preaches, why he preaches and the meaning of calling on the name of the Lord, Acts 2:21; Acts 2:27-41; 9:14, 17-18; 22:12-16; 10:34-48, etc. Comment is also made about Messianic covenant enjoining process here, Hebrews 12:24; 13:20 etc.
In general review at this point, he talks about repentance, water baptism and spirit baptism as a seal without which resurrection will be impossible. (Romans 9:11). Consequences are laid down for these who leave the Messianic covenant, II Peter 2:20-22; Hebrews 3:12-19; 6:4-6.
The chapter also carries messages on Messianic covenant ordinances, Acts 15:20-35, expanding the LOVE regulations 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, confusion in the ecclesiastical world. The writer here believes that obeying the gospel will not do any one any good if they do not obey it with belief (saving faith) Romans 10:16-18. For instance he shows that Paul integrates the five major elements of the gospel into his writings: (1) Repentance (2) Water baptism (3) Holy spirit (4) under filed living and (5) The ascension Romans 9:31-32.

RESPONSE TO CHAPTER 7
The work of faith is paramount in the scriptures, right from Abel to Abraham to the present era. The work of God’s saving grace is by faith and not by works-God’s wisdom, so that many people who can boast, will not have the reason of boasting.
More so, the people who are poor and simple may not shy out and say I was not able and didn’t have the substance to pay. Therefore by faith in the finished work of Jesus whosoever believes, is saved, praise the Lord.
